A well-designed language lesson booking platform but not without alternatives.

Cost
CostIs Verbling acceptably priced and how does its pricing compare to market competition?

Set up in 2011, Verbling offers flexible lessons that you can set up with its thousands of professionals.

Learning at your own pace is one of its perks, as is its user interface.

Continue reading for the drawbacks, which I’ve mentioned in this review.

Verbling’s features

Verbling lets you set up one-to-one sessions with native speakers in your target language. What makes it unique compared to competitors like italki is the user design/ interface.

You’ve got a chat feature and a video option inbuilt into the Verbling platform.

There’s also the option to make your flashcards and share files with your teacher.

More than 10,000 professional tutors to choose from

I found Verbling’s large selection of professional tutors ideal as a lower advanced Spanish student.

They all have a vast range of experience, so you know you’re in good hands, no matter who you choose.

But if you’d prefer to learn with a female teacher or with a male teacher, the choice is yours.

Take a trial lesson beforehand

Not sure whether you want to commit to Verbling from the get-go?

You can find out if it’s right for you with a trial lesson. This means you’ll get to sample the lesson at a fraction of the cost, which is what I did when I first accessed the platform.

This will help you decide whether the teacher you select is right for you.

Low cost and good quality depending on the teacher’s style

There’s no doubt that the cost is reasonable, but this will depend on the rates of your teacher.

As all the teachers available on Verbling are vetted beforehand, it’s more than likely you’ll get good quality for what you pay. But each style of teaching will vary, and might not be aligned with how you learn best.

This is why I’d recommend that you take the trial lesson before you get started.

The take-home point is that Verbling is a great app with plenty of advantages.

All you’ll need to do is get the right teacher for the right price and you’ll have a great experience with Verbling.

Definitely try italki as an alternative to Verbling.
