Positives
  • Unique resource for German

Negatives
  • There are better options if you need a more detailed German course
  • Not a lot of free content

Summary

Seedlang takes a popular feature from Memrise (short video snippet lessons) and does it much better, in my opinion. While it's not an overly comprehensive German resource, it does a good job of bringing language snippets to life.

Depth
DepthThis is 'content' richness. How comprehensive is Seedlang and does it take you far in terms of levels, or is it more suited to low level/tourist learners?
Uniqueness
UniquenessIs Seedlang innovative or is it just an imitation? Does it have a unique selling proposition (USP) that makes it stand out among competitors?
Quality
QualityOverall product quality indicator that covers everything from video/dialogue clarity, authenticity, explanations, and effectiveness.
Cost
CostIs Seedlang acceptably priced and how does its pricing compare to market competition?

Someone drew my attention to Seedlang recently and I must say, as a visual-spatial learner, I was impressed.

As a German resource, it’s fantastic.

The concept is very similar to what Memrise does with short video snippets to illustrate words and phrases. Basically, instead of playing an audio track, you play a video of a native speaker pronouncing the expression.

For visual learners like myself, this is extremely helpful (one of my favorite features of Memrise, in fact).

Seedlang does it better than Memrise, but it’s for German only.

The other advantage is that Seedlang injects humor and has a more linear learning track - it’s a properly-designed course (A1 - B2 levels).

There are also games and quizzes built in.

Overall, a great German resource (but not without alternative resources and online courses).
